**NOW OPEN**     ***CCIG NEW CONSTRUCTION APPLICATIONS***

 

The Child Care Infrastructure Grant has reopened New Construction applications for individuals looking to open a Child Care Facility or for existing Child Care Facilities looking to increase licensed capacity. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis, meaning you can apply at any time! Please feel free to reach out to CCInfrastructureGrant.DHHS@maine.gov with any questions. Facility Start Up – New Construction (https://www.ceimaine.org/maine-grants/child-care-infrastructure-grant-program/child-care-facility-start-up-grants/)

 

Applicants constructing a new building are eligible for up to 50% of their start-up costs per the following guidelines:

  1. License capacity 12-20 children: up to 50% of eligible costs up to $100,000.
  2. License capacity 21-49 children: up to 50% of eligible costs up to $200,000.
  3. License capacity 49+ children: up to 50% of eligible costs up to $250,000.

Eligibility requirements:

  1. General eligibility requirements for licensure.
  2. Proof of property ownership or proof of 10-year lease commitment.

New construction is defined as: A new building with new floors, walls, ceilings and a roof where none previously existed.

 

Facility Expansion – New Construction (https://www.ceimaine.org/maine-grants/child-care-infrastructure-grant-program/child-care-facility-expansion-grants/)

 

Applicants constructing a new building are eligible for up to 50% of their expansion costs per the following guidelines:

  1. New license capacity 21-49 children: up to 50% of eligible costs up to $150,000.
  2. New license capacity 49+ children: up to 50% of eligible costs up to $200,000.

 

Eligibility requirements:

  1. General eligibility requirements for licensure.
  2. Minimum 10 new/additional slots.

 

New construction is defined in two ways:

  1. A new building with new floors, walls, ceilings, and a roof where none previously existed; or
  2. Adding square footage to an existing building with new exterior walls and a new larger roof, and also adding at least 50% more to your current licensed capacity.
