Youth Centric Lethal Means Safety Training

There are two different versions of this training, one for direct service or clinical providers, and one for community members or those working in youth-serving organizations. Both trainings examine best-practices regarding lethal means safety and lethal means safety counseling and integrate what we know about youth development and how youth experience suicidality differently than adults.

The trainings will: review different types of lethal means; address the importance of TIME and SPACE while intervening when someone is in crisis; introduce safety planning as on opportunity to open conversations; examine the theoretical and practical considerations around access to lethal means.

These trainings are FREE, and participants are eligible for 1.5 hours of Continuing Education (more info under “Details” tab on registration page).

The direct service training focuses on providers or clinicians who will be working directly with youth or their caregiver(s) to provide lethal means safety counseling.

The community training focuses on individuals who may be supporting youth or their caregiver(s) who may be experiencing suicidality or other mental health challenges, outside of a clinical role.
