Subject: Novavax Booster Authorization

The CDC’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices’ (ACIP) has now authorized the Novavax monovalent COVID-19 boosters for to be administered to people ages 18 years and older targeting the original COVID-19 strain. This recommendation followed the FDA’s granting of emergency use authorization.
The Novavax monovalent COVID-19 boosters may be given to adults if they:
- are 18 years or older,
- have completed a primary series vaccination,
- have not previously received a COVID-19 booster and,
- cannot or will not receive an updated mRNA booster.
The Novavax COVID-19 vaccine booster is a 0.5 mL dose and may be administered at least 6 months after completion of primary vaccination with an authorized or approved COVID-19 vaccine.
