Attention Section 65, Behavioral Health Services Providers 

The Office of MaineCare Services would like to provide an update regarding the Medication Management and Home and Community-based Treatment (HCT) reimbursement rates in Section 65, Behavioral Health Services.   

Maine PL 2019 ch. 616, An Act Making Supplemental Appropriations and Allocations for the Expenditures of State Government, General Fund and Other Funds and Changing Certain Provisions of the Law Necessary to the Proper Operations of State Government for the Fiscal Years Ending June 30, 2020 and June 30, 2021 recently passed, directing the Department to increase rates for certain services effective July 1, 2020.  

These increases will be effective April 1, 2020, rather than July 1, 2020 as initially planned, to help support those who have been impacted by the COVID-19 public health emergency. The rate changes include an increase for physicians delivering medication management and an increase for Behavioral Health Professionals providing HCT services.   

Please note, physicians delivering medication management will now need to include the AF modifier on claims to receive the enhanced rate.

Please note: H2010 HA AF and H2021 HU U1 is available for billing retroactive to April 1, 2020.
