Alcohol Prevention Conference Data from the US CDC indicates that alcohol continues to be the leading drug-related cause of death in Maine, with an average of 489 deaths attributed to alcohol occurring each year. The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention and AdCare Educational Institute of Maine, Inc. are partnering to bring this one-day conference to put alcohol prevention into the spotlight. This conference will bring to Maine two leading national experts on alcohol prevention science, with a focus on emerging adults, ages 18-25, to understand alcohol use issues in Maine and learn practical skills to apply in local communities. Keynote Dr. David Jernigan from Boston University School of Public Health will focus on Bringing Alcohol Back In: What we know and what we can do about America's #1 drug problem. All professionals and community members working to address the impact of alcohol in Maine and in their communities should attend this conference, including: prevention professionals, educators, law enforcement, highway safety professionals, healthcare providers, college and university administrators, community leaders, faith leaders, and many more.
