Dear Section 17 Community Integration Service Providers:

Thank you to those who have participated in an Adult Needs and Strengths Assessment (ANSA) Information Session over the past two weeks. These sessions allowed the Department to outline a rule change that was proposed September 14th, 2016, requiring the completion of the ANSA tool during the regular assessment period for Community Integration Services.

Individuals who will be administering the ANSA will be required to complete two types of trainings:

  1. ANSA/Praed Training
  2. ANSA/EIS Training

ANSA/Praed Training

All individuals who will be administering the ANSA tool must successfully complete the general user training course and Maine ANSA certification exam. This course can be completed online or in person. Online training can be completed at https://canstraining.com/profile/ after registering on the Praed Foundation Collaborative Training Site. In person training sessions for general users will be available on November 1, 2016 or November 3, 2016 with Dr. Suzanne Button from the Praed Foundation.  Successful training completion for general users requires a score of at least 70 on the Maine ANSA certification exam, which will be administered online or in person.

Individuals who will be supervising staff administering the ANSA tool or who will be providing technical support to those administering the tool are strongly encouraged to complete the supervisor training in addition to the general user training. In order to complete this training, individuals must score at least an 80 on the Maine ANSA certification exam. At this time, the supervisor training will be offered in person only on November 2, 2016 or November 4, 2016, and will be provided by the Praed Foundation.

  • Currently active ANSA and/or CANS certification is accepted, with recertification in the last 12 months.
  • If supplementary training opportunities are needed for general users and/or supervisors, the Department will work with providers and the Praed Foundation to explore additional education options.

The live ANSA training session schedule is as follows:

(Maple Hill Farm, Hallowell, ME)

  • Tues. Nov. 1: General User Training
    • 9:00am - 4:30pm
  • Wed. Nov. 2: Supervisor Training
