Notice of Proposed Rulemaking - Chapter 75 Protected Resources and Chapter 25 Lobster and Crab

The Department of Marine Resources is initiating rule-making for Chapters 25 (Lobster and Crab) and 75 (Protected Resources) to comply with the Atlantic Large Whale Take Reduction Plan federal regulations. In accordance with the implementation date for the federal regulations, DMR intends that these regulations would become effective May 1, 2022.
A link to access the proposals is provided at the end of this post. You may provide comment on the proposals during the remote public hearing(s) or submit your comments in writing. Hearing access information and instructions on how to submit comments are included below.
Submitting Written Comments:
The deadline to submit written comments on the proposed changes is March 28, 2022. Written comments may be sent to DMR at the address listed below.

Hearing Information:
The remote hearings for Chapters 25 and 75 are scheduled for March 15, 2022. The hearing for Chapter 75 will begin at 5:00 p.m. and the hearing for Chapter 25 will begin at 5:30 p.m. If the hearings are postponed they will be held at the same time and format on March 17, 2022. Notice of a postponement would be posted to DMR’s website under “Meetings.” The hearings can be accessed using the information below (the access information is the same for both proceedings). You can participate in the proceedings via computer or smartphone or dial-in by telephone.
