The Maine Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) will be conducting rulemaking to address air emissions from the degassing of certain petroleum tanks, including storage tanks and marine vessels, tanker trucks, and railcars used to transport petroleum products. Before doing so, the DEP is soliciting information on specific information to inform this rulemaking.

Update (9/2/2021): The requirements for storage tanks will be applicable to tanks greater than 39,000 gallons located at a petroleum storage facility required to obtain an air emission license in accordance with Chapters 115 or 140.

The deadline for responses to this information request is October 1, 2021. Responses may be emailed to Lynn Muzzey at lynn.muzzey@maine.gov.
