NORTHERN MAINE IS AWASH IN COLOR WITH PEAK FALL FOLIAGE CONDITIONS
Augusta, ME (September 24, 2014) - A beautiful tapestry of colors blankets northern Maine where forest rangers report that the fall foliage season will reach peak conditions this weekend.
“With below average day time temperatures and very chilly nights over the past several days, northern Maine has seen the progression of color rapidly spreading throughout the forest canopies and hillsides in zones 6 and 7. The time is right for the spectacular viewing of why we love Maine in the fall,” noted Gale Ross, Fall Foliage spokesperson.

This weekend The Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry’s Bureau of Parks and Lands is offering ranger-led fall foliage hikes in the state parks and public lands throughout the leaf peeping season. For more information on hikes in Roque Buffs State Park, Little Moose Public Lands in Greenville, Vaughan Woods State Park in South Berwick and Mount Blue State Park in Weld visit www.maine.gov/dacf/fallfoliagehikes. More to See and Do during Maine’s Fall Season
This weekend is also the start of the 163rd annual Fryeburg Fair that runs from Sunday, September 28 through Sunday, October 5. Maine’s largest fair includes livestock, an exhibition hall, farm museum, craft demonstrations, harness racing and nightly entertainment. www.fryeburgfair.org.
Travel to Acadia National Park for the Acadia Night Sky Festival from September 25 through September 29. This community celebration promotes the protection and enjoyment of Downeast Acadia’s stellar night sky as a valuable natural resource.
