Maine Forest Service Entomology Lab Project Position Immediate Opening


The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry, Maine Forest Service, Insect and Disease Laboratory is seeking to hire a project (non-status) Entomology Technician at pay Range 15. 

Overview of Position:

  • Pay scale is between $12.79 and $16.76/hour.  Pay rate based on training and experience.
  • Position will be headquartered at the Entomology Lab in Augusta, ME (50 Hospital Street).
  • There is a possibility of some overnight travel.
  • Background in biological sciences, especially entomology and/or forestry desired.
  • Expected to perform fieldwork independently and safely in remote and populated locations.  
  • Expected to work outside in adverse conditions.
  • Standard work week will be 40 hours/week.    When authorized, overtime is paid after first forty hours worked.  
  • Duties will be split between field work, office support work and laboratory support work. 
  • This is a 51 week/year project, non-status position.  Non-status positions:

                    o   do not qualify for holiday pay, vacation or sick time (no paid time-off),

                    o   do not earn seniority,

                    o   are eligible for health and dental insurance, but not life insurance,

                    o   do participate in the state retirement system
