More About Sessions and Presenters

What Do YOU Actually Need at Work? - Wednesday, July 29, 12-1 pm

What Do YOU Actually Need at Work? How's work feeling for you right now? This workshop will give you time to get to know your own needs better and explore what’s working and not working at work.

Presented by Leslie Forstadt, University of Maine Cooperative Extension, and Karen Groat, University of Maine Augusta. Leslie is a professor of human development, and Karen teaches mediation. Both are farm coaches in the Farm Communication Coaching program with UMaine Extension.

Explore Conflict Styles and our Responses to Conflict -Thursday, July 30, 12-1:15 pm

What is your conflict type? Roots of conflict and finding out your individual conflict style, along with a discussion of when your conflict style is helpful and when it is not so helpful.

Presented by Martha Machnik and Karen Groat, University of Maine Augusta. Karen teaches mediation and practicums in Justice Studies and is a farm coach and consultant with UMaine Extension. Martha is retired from a long career in nonprofit leadership, and continues to work as a mediator, coach, and trainer.

Rapid Anxiety Relief - Wednesday, August 5, 11:30 am-12:30 pm

Practical techniques for managing acute stress in real-time — before a hard conversation, after bad news, during a difficult season. Covers breathwork and body-based tools that work fast and require no prior experience. No sharing required. Participants leave with something they can use the same day.

Presented by: Hans Hageman, the co-host of the Cultivating Resilience podcast on farmer mental health, a member of the Black Farmer Fund's founding Pilot Community, and an inaugural Seeding Power Fellow.

Goal Clarity - Wednesday, August 12, 11:30 am - 12:30 pm

Most goal-setting programs work from the outside in — business plans, financial targets, succession. This one works from the inside out. For farmers or those who work with farmers - identify what you actually want (separate from what you've inherited or feel obligated to pursue), and work through the internal obstacles that make moving forward feel impossible. Connects directly to identity — how you see yourself shapes what you believe is possible on your farm or in your work and in your life.

Presented by: Hans Hageman, the co-host of the Cultivating Resilience podcast on farmer mental health, a member of the Black Farmer Fund's founding Pilot Community, and an inaugural Seeding Power Fellow.

Challenging Conversations? - Wednesday, August 19, 12-1:15 pm

An interactive Workshop with a focus on skills and self-care in challenging or difficult conversations.
