Join Maine Forest Service District Forester Allyssa Gregory for a presentation on how historical events, both natural and human, shaped the forests of Merryspring. During the webinar participants will have the opportunity to view the Merryspring Woods through photographs displaying the evidence of past disturbances that created the forest we have today. A woodland walk through the Merryspring Woods will follow in June for those interested in seeing these examples in person.

The Maine Forest Service is pleased to announce an upcoming virtual training for Consulting Foresters interested in participating in the WoodsWISE Resilience Program. This program supports landowners in enhancing the resilience and long-term stewardship of Maine’s forests
Consulting Foresters must complete this training to work with landowners enrolled in the WoodsWISE Resilience Program. The training is free and open to all Maine licensed foresters.
This session will provide participants with essential guidance on program requirements, landowner engagement, and best practices for promoting forest resilience across diverse landscapes.

Basic & Advanced Erosion Control Practices
This training is provided by the Voluntary Contractor Certification Program administered by the DEP's Nonpoint Source Training and Resource Center. To qualify for Maine DEP Certification in Erosion Control Practices, completion of the eight (8)-hour course, “Basic & Advanced Erosion Control Practices” is required. Read this Forests for Maine guidebook to learn more about why riparian habitat is important for fish, wildlife, and people, and specific steps you can take to enhance habitat quality for fish as well as wildlife species that live in or frequently use shoreland and streamside riparian habitats.
