Hosted by Maine Forest Service and Maine Woodland Owners: Experts in spruce budworm and forestry will lead an easy-to-access woods tour to compare untreated and treated areas for spruce budworm. Learn about the growing spruce budworm populations and the upcoming cost share program for 2026 treatments. Join us for door prizes, Forester and Pesticide credits, and an opportunity to chat directly with experts about spruce budworm. Parking will be available on the dirt road immediately off the pavement and the tour will start right on the paved road. No registration required.
Can't attend the whole event? A staffed information table will be available for those who want to stop in and learn the basics.

Participants will learn about Invasive plant biology, ecological impacts, identification, fundamental concepts of invasive plant management and related state and federal programs in classroom and field settings.
Each participant will receive an Invasive Plant Field Guide and lunch
(Outdoor Identification sessions will be held rain or shine, so plan accordingly.)

Join fellow community members and industry professionals at the 2025 Forestry Field Day. Participants can attend a variety of field tours, such as “Ruts, Routes, and Runoff” with Tom Gilbert from the Maine Forest Service or “Libby Maple's Forest Management” with Jon Doty from Two Trees Forestry. In addition, there will be numerous demonstrations, ranging from firewood processing to tree identification and measurement practices. The event will also feature recognition of the 2025 Outstanding Tree Farmers of the Year: Jay and Kathryn Libby.
Please note that Forestry Field Day is an outdoor event held rain or shine. Field tours may involve off-trail walking over uneven terrain. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately and bring suitable equipment such as sturdy footwear, weather-appropriate clothing, and water.
