 Celebrating Maine - So Much to Love
Yesterday marked 203 years of Maine statehood. Did you recall the motto Dirigo, "I lead" or list as many of Maine's state symbols as you could, or sing the State Song, or perhaps the State Ballad, The Ballad of the 20th Maine, by The Ghost of Paul Revere?
We love the white pine, the chickadee, and the moose. There is so much to love and celebrate about this glorious land we call home. There are so many places to explore and connect to nature, to find solace.
Celebration is all about love... the Beatles were right, All You Need is Love. An inclusive love that extends to all the people who came before us, to those who called this land home long before our colonial and immigrant ancestors arrived and still live here - the Wabanaki people. To truly celebrate, we must learn from, elevate the voices of, and restore right relations with the Wabanaki. Here are some resources for your learning journey:
