What’s Going on in the Labor Market?
FRA’s Eric Kingsley will summarize current trends in the national, regional and industry labor market, and discuss how that is impacting the forest industry – from the woods to the mill. Bring questions, comments and ideas on how the industry can face what is a challenge for all sectors – and one that isn’t about to go away.
Maine Funding for Loggers, Foresters and Sawmills
Brian Whitney, President of the Maine Technology Institute, will discuss the State of Maine’s recently announced Forestry Recovery Initiative. This program utilizes $20 million in federal funds for grants to Maine loggers, foresters, lumber yards, and other members of Maine’s forest products sector. These grants will be used to help these businesses recover financial loss caused by the pandemic, develop new wood products, and upgrade infrastructure to strengthen supply chain and sell products to new markets. Lean more about who is eligible, what funds can be used for, and where to apply.
