Inaugural Fall Fiber Tour and Trail Launches October 10, 2021

On Sunday, October 10, 2021 join Real Maine members for the first fiber tour and trail! Explore the farms, craft and quality of Maine-grown fiber.

Visitors can attend open houses, meet and greets and shop locally. Tour any of the hosts along the statewide trail, and get to know more about the techniques and skill involved to produce local fiber!

Tips for Your Visit:

• Most sites are open 10 AM to 3 PM 10/10/2021 – We recommend contacting the hosts for hours and activities – each host is different
• Check local listings as you plan – some offer extended hours and days
• Bring your questions about fiber production in Maine, and your taste for outdoor adventure for this rain or shine activity! 
• Make a day of it! October is Maine Products month, and there's lots to see and do the weekend of October 9 and 10. Perhaps you're already planning to complete the Maine Yarn Cruise? Or, you can add on a stops for Maine's Open Creamery Day and a fall maple tour sites to round out your Maine farm business explorations while enjoying Maine's scenic autumn landscape!

Things to See and Do on the Fiber Trail:

What happens when you go on the fiber trail? Each host is different!

Some hosts raise different animals, like sheep, alpaca or rabbits. Others focus more on processing a variety of fiber products, and sell raw materials, such as wool, hair, or a mix, while others use these natural fibers for their own business or hobbies. Many hosts do it all! They will showcase the full cycle of raising their own animals, processing the fiber, and designing home goods, textiles, crafts or art, to sell a finished product directly to customers.
