Farm Labor Link Network Offers Resources For Employers and Job Seekers

AUGUSTA – Early Spring is a busy time for farmers and food producers in the state. With the advent of spring and an improving economy, many employers and employees are looking forward to a busy season ahead. With spring comes a renewed focus on agricultural labor, and this month the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (DACF) reminds employers and employees about the Farm Labor Link Network resource.

This webpage assists the Maine farming community by connecting employers with resources to find, train, and retain employees. When it comes to posting a position, the webpage offers a robust list of job posting sites, connections to career placement services, alternative job advertising options, and sample job descriptions. To assist with onboarding new employees, the page includes a new employee checklist, sample employee handbooks, and work agreements, and workplace communication resources. Additionally, there are legal resources, including information on migrant and seasonal workers, state and federal labor laws, downloadable labor posters, legal service referrals, and worker safety guidance.

The webpage also provides vital resources for current and prospective agricultural employees, including self-assessment materials to help determine if farming is a suitable endeavor, opportunities for additional professional training though internships, apprenticeships, and course work, and where to find job openings. There is also considerable information to support new Mainers, those with disabilities, and veterans employed in agriculture.

Visit DACF’s Farm Labor Link Network for additional resources and sign up for our newsletters to stay connected on agricultural labor news, resources, and opportunities.
