Allagash Wilderness Waterway Conditions

Ice conditions are improving, but it is still not safe to cross any of the headwater lakes. As of 1-14-21 ice conditions: In front of Lock Dam - 100 yards out 7 inches of ice - 200 yards 5 inches - 300 yards 5 inches. Round Pond - 5 1/2 inches of ice. Telos Lake in front of High Bank Campsite - 50 feet out 4 inches of ice - 100 feet out 2 inches of ice. Chamberlain Lake in front of the parking lot snowmobile trail - 100 yards out 5inches of Ice - 200 yards 4 inches - 300 4 inches. Chamberlain Lake in front of the first island 50 feet out 2 inches of ice. Eagle/Churchill lakes have about 4 of ice along the shoreline. Not sure about the ice thickness in the middle of these lakes. Allagash Lake has 6- 10 of ice and is completely frozen over. There are a few pockets of slush.
