Allagash Wilderness Waterway Conditions

Temporary ATV use on access trails into the AWW has been discontinued as of 1/4/21.

Ice conditions are improving, but it is still not safe to cross any of the headwater lakes. Current ice conditions: 1. Round Pond (T6 R11) has 4"- 5 of ice along the shorelines and 2- 3 in the middle. 2. South end of Chamberlain Lake has 4 along the shoreline, with open water north of Ledge Point Campsite- towards the middle of the lake. 3. The north end of Chamberlain Lake is completely frozen over with 5 of ice. 4. Eagle/Churchill lakes have about 4 of ice along the shoreline. Not sure about the ice thickness in the middle of these lakes. 5.Allagash Lake has 6- 10 of ice and is completely frozen over. There are a few pockets of slush.
