The Maine Forest Service invites the public to review and comment on Maine’s draft Forest Action Plan.
The Forest Action Plan provides information on conditions and trends in the state’s forests, identifies issues, threats, and opportunities, and delineates priority rural and urban forest landscape areas. It also recommends strategies for investing state, federal, and other resources to manage priority landscapes identified in the plan, focusing where federal investment can most effectively stimulate or leverage desired action and engage multiple partners.
The Forest Action Plan supports Maine Forest Service’s statutory mission of promoting the sustainable use and protection of Maine’s forests.
Download a copy of the draft here. Please note that some sections require additional work and internal review and could change significantly.
Comments will be accepted until 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, 16 December 2020. It will help us in our review if you are specific as to the document, page, and issue or strategy you are commenting on. You may submit comments through forestinfo@maine.gov.
