Applications Open to Represent Maine and Celebrate Our Bicentennial at Maine Day at the Big E!!

What is the Big E! and Avenue of States? The Big E! is the largest agricultural fair on the northeast seaboard, attracting more than 1-million attendees annually. Thousands of fairgoers seek unique experiences and products showcasing the best of the New England states inside replica state capital buildings along the Avenue of States within the fairgrounds.

What is Maine Day at The Big E!? Maine Day is dedicated to celebrating the State of Maine, where special activities and performances are hosted at the State of Maine Building, including a parade around the fairground.

When is Maine Day? Maine Day occurs the opening weekend of the fair: Saturday, September 19, 2020.

Where is Maine Day? The Maine Building, The Big E! Avenue of States, 1305 Memorial Ave, West Springfield, MA 01089

What is the commitment? This is at least a daylong commitment of travel and activities. Typical Maine Day typical schedule:

  • Maine Day Opening Ceremonies — 9:30 am
  • Maine Stage Performances — 10:30 am through 4:30 pm
  • Parade — 5:00 pm

Who participates in Maine Day?

  • Maine performance artists and entertainers — Artists, bands, celebrity chefs, comedians, musicians, etc., who share and tell the story of Maine in an engaging way. >> Entertainers: Apply now! <<*
  • Maine ‘ambassador’ or representative — Youth leaders and adults who represent and promote Maine agriculture, commerce, fisheries, forests, wildlife and tourism. These participants must be in the parade.  >> Apply here! <<*
  • Maine businesses, groups, organizations, or collectives of businesses featuring Maine agriculture, commerce, fisheries, forests, wildlife and tourism who want to potentially reach nearly 250,000 visitors! What is the cost? Participants are responsible for transportation and accommodations. Applicants who wish to be paid for services must provide proof of adequate liability coverage, complete an agreement, and tax form to receive payment. The Maine Building provides promotion, location, and staging.

*Application deadline is April 1, 2020. Building management will review applications and let applicants know about formal invitations, available space and schedule.
