Wolfden Rezoning
Memorandum
To: Interested Persons
From: Stacie Beyer, Planning Manager, Land Use Planning Commission
Date: February 5, 2020
On January 27, 2020, the Land Use Planning Commission (LUPC) received a petition from Wolfden Mt. Chase, LLC. to rezone approximately 197 acres of land from General Management Subdistrict to a Planned Development Subdistrict. The purpose of the proposed rezoning is to allow for development of an underground metallic mineral mine.
The Commission has planned an agenda item for its February 12th monthly business meeting in Brewer related to metallic mineral mining and the Wolfden Mt. Chase, LLC. zoning petition. This agenda item is meant to be an early introduction for Commission members. The agenda for the meeting is available on the LUPC website, Calendar and Meeting Materials page, https://www.maine.gov/dacf/lupc/about/calendar/index.shtml.
LUPC Commission meetings are open to the public and all interested persons are welcome to attend. However, please be aware that the Commission is not planning to entertain public comments at the February meeting. The Commission will hear testimony and oral public comments at its public hearing on this matter that will be scheduled later this year. Written public comments on the proposal can be filed with the LUPC at any time up until the close of the record after the public hearing.
