Sign up for Produce Safety Alliance Grower Training

Come take the training required for all covered produce growers, and recommended for produce growers of all sizes!

This FDA approved training is one way to satisfy the training requirement outlined in FSMA’s Produce Safety Rule § 112.22(c).

If you’re interested in learning more about food safety on produce farms or what’s required by the Food Safety Modernization Act’s (FSMA) Produce Safety Rule, come join us for a day of discussion and learning. This full-day training fulfills the requirement for at least one supervisor or responsible party from each fully covered farm to complete a food safety training recognized as adequate by the FDA. It also includes a thumb drive full of resources, and a catered lunch to share with your fellow farm attendees.

In this training we’ll talk about:

  • What makes people sick from food borne illnesses.
  • Microorganisms that affect public health and where those pathogen sources are on farms.
  • How to identify microbial risks, practices that minimize those risks, and basic best practices for food safety on produce farms.
  • Worker health & hygiene, and training.
  • Biological soil amendments, animals, wildlife, and land use.
  • Water and post-harvest washes.
  • Equipment, tools, and sanitation.
  • Records and food safety plans.

Upon completing the course, you’ll be eligible to receive a certificate from the Association of Food and Drug Officials (AFDO) as long as you stay for the entire training and complete the paperwork submission at the end.

Whether you’re new to food safety and want to learn more, or you’re experienced and want to get ready for an inspection, this training will help you do that!  The class is presented by the University of Maine Cooperative Extension and AgMatters, LLC. Staff will be on hand from the Department of Agriculture, Conservation, & Forestry to answer questions and share insights from the regulators perspective.

We hope you’ll join us!
