Forestry for Maine Birds Program Workshop and Ongoing Timber Harvest Tour – Livermore

Forestry for Maine Birds book cover

Washburn Norlands Living History Center is hosting a workshop combining the Forestry for Maine Birds Program with a tour of the ongoing timber harvest on the Center’s lands. The event will be held Saturday, August 24 from 9 a.m. to approximately 12:30 p.m. The workshop is presented by Maine Audubon, the Maine Forest Service and American Forest Management. Participants will learn about forest bird habitat and how logging can help create specific habitat elements. The woods tour will show how the harvest  is incorporating elements of the Forestry for Maine Birds Program. Participants will learn a simple “handy” way to assess their woods, to learn what birds may already be there.
