Springvale Farm Walk

The fifth Annual Springvale Farm Walk is a farm-to-farm educational tour in conjunction with Maine Open Farm Day, featuring area farms, and farm products for sample and sale.

Springvale, Maine -- Annual Springvale Farm Walk occurs Sunday, July 28, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Experience the variety of Maine agriculture while walking through fields, orchards, woods and pastures. Springvale Farm Walk is a four-mile, self-guided walk that connects nine farms. The walk is organized by Sanford Trails and participating farms. The participating farms raise sheep, Christmas trees, mushrooms, vegetables, berries, and apples. They also make cheese, hard cider, dairy and maple syrup. Visitors are encouraged to explore the path from farm to farm, and learn more about the effort area businesses put into growing Maine farm products at each farm.

The path is well-marked and follows gentle terrain. Walkers may start and end anywhere. A shuttle service is available. Sturdy shoes are recommended.

Three Rivers Land Trust serves breakfast from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at McDougal Orchards. Noon Family Sheep Farm serves lamb barbecue. This event is held in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of Maine Open Farm Day, an annual summer tradition, growing agricultural awareness, and connecting Maine farmers and the public.
