Free Tour of Energy Efficient Year Round Ag Facility in Waldoboro

Join Knox-Lincoln Soil & Water Conservation District, Maine Coast Heritage Trust, and Midcoast Farmers Alliance on Thursday, March 1 at 4:00pm for a FREE tour of the Maine Sustainable Agriculture Society (MESAS) energy-efficient structure located at Waldoboro Business Park, 1 Pie Road in Waldoboro.

Meet the folks who designed this prototype structure and see these innovative technologies at work: integrated solar roof, solar heating wall, and phase-change materials that help maintain a constant temperature throughout the year, and energy monitoring tools. The building demonstrates systems that reduce the heating and energy costs necessary to operate greenhouses, food storage facilities, dairies or any large year-round facility designed for production or storage.

To register for this and more upcoming free workshops, visit www.knox-lincoln.org/beginning-farmer, call 596-2040, or email info@knox-lincoln.org. More information about the Sustainable Year Round Agriculture project may be found at www.mesas.org/syra.
