 Here at Project Canopy, we love trees everyday. But we figured Valentine's Day was the perfect time to really show our trees some love. And the best part is they don't need a fancy dinner, cut flowers or exotic chocolates to prove it to them! Read on to find some "arborly love"! <3
 There are approximately 2 million reasons to love trees ... but we'll start with these.
It’s no secret that I go nuts for the trees. I talk to them, I pet them … the Lorax is my spirit animal! So it’s no surprise that Arbor Day, generally observed on the last Friday of April, holds a special place in my heart. What could be better than a day dedicated to observing the importance of trees and better yet, to planting new ones?

 The city of Melbourne assigned trees email addresses so citizens could report problems. Instead, people wrote thousands of love letters to their favorite trees.
"My dearest Ulmus," the message began.
“As I was leaving St. Mary’s College today I was struck, not by a branch, but by your radiant beauty. You must get these messages all the time. You’re such an attractive tree.”

Apple Tree Pruning - Skowhegan

At the Somerset County Cooperative Extension Office, 7 County Drive, Skowhegan Want to learn how to prune those apple trees in your yard or brush up on your pruning skills? If so, then come out to The Yankee Woodlot in Skowhegan on Sunday, February 18th where apple tree enthusiast Joe Dembeck will discuss methods and tools used to prune apple trees in order to increase their viability and production. After a brief overview participants will then head outdoors to learn and test their skills pruning apple trees. Dress warm as we will venture outdoors for the event. Feel free to bring your own pruning equipment if you like. There will be pruning poles/saws, hand saws, loppers, etc. for you to try. Pre-registration is required as this event is limited to 20 Participants.
