What:
This competition tests the many skills of the professional logger and is based on the Game of Logging felling training. The winner of the competition will represent Maine and the CLP program at the Game of Logging National Finals.
Background on the Game of Logging:
The Game of Logging is an international logger education program developed by Soren Eriksson and Tim Ard. The program is delivered in four days of hands-on training during which loggers learn the precision felling and chainsaw skills required by the professional chainsaw user. Loggers develop skills to establish control over their job so that trees fall where and when the logger wants. Not only is the logger more productive and safe, but the quality of the forest products is improved and the impact on the harvest site is more environmentally sensitive.

Since 1991, the Certified Logging Program (CLP) has been nationally recognized as an industry leader in logger training and certification. Training is delivered in three targeted areas: conventional logging, mechanical equipment operations and logging supervision.
Today, the CLP program has trained more than 6,400 loggers. Curriculum includes: sustainable harvesting, safety, production felling techniques, equipment compliance and operation, jobsite layout, wildlife management, forest management, business of logging, first aid for loggers and environmental regulations.
