Aroostook County Soil Health Field Day
A Conservation Innovation Grant Field Day will be held Wednesday, August 16 at Donald Fitzpatrick’s farm
on Jordan Rd, Houlton. The field day is part of the Southern Aroostook Soil and
Water Conservation District’s Conservation Innovation Grant project funded
through the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS).
The Field Day will feature Brendon Rockey, a 3rd generation biotic potato farmer in Colorado who grows specialty and seed potatoes using companion crops and cover crops. Other Field Day speakers include Mark Fulford, CIG project
advisor and farm consultant, and Will Brinton, founder of Woods End
Laboratories.
The workshop begins with registration at 8:30am with
presentations from 9 - 2:30pm. There is a $10 registration fee that includes
lunch provided by the Vault Restaurant. Pre-registration
is encouraged and greatly appreciated and may be done by contacting the Southern Aroostook Soil & Water Conservation District at 254-4126 or email angela.wotton@me.nacdnet.net.
The
following credits will be available: Pesticide credits tbd; and 5.5 Certified
Crop Advisor credits (3 soil/water, 1.5 crop mgmt., 1 NM). For more information on the speakers or the
