Morten Moesswilde, MFS District Forester
This presentation is intended
as an introduction for woodland owners who are beginning or considering
long-range Forest Management Plans as well as enrolling woodland in Maine’s
Tree Growth Property Tax program. The workshop will cover understanding your
ownership objectives, what forest management plans are, what information may be
included, finding a forester to help you develop a plan, and what financial
incentives/cost-share programs are available to help reduce the cost to
landowners. The second half of the presentation will outline Maine’s Tree
Growth Property Tax Program, how it works, what its requirements are, and how
it may influence how landowners manage their woodland. Foresters, loggers and
others may also find the discussion interesting and are welcome to attend. Mort
Moesswilde, is a forester with the Maine Forest Service.
