Basic Training: Vets Ensemble Spring 2023
The Studio at Chesapeake Shakespeare Company presents an educational program workshop that will be FREE for US veterans. Participants should be men and women, ages 20-85, who are veterans of the United States armed forces. Combat experience not required. Working with CSC Teaching Artists (Veterans!), the ensemble will explore Shakespeare’s text for personal connections. This ten-week program will culminate in a sharing for friends, family, and invited guests. No experience required! Flier

Olive Branch & Laurel Crown (OBLC) seeks ACTORS
OBLC, the Veterans Ensemble at Chesapeake Shakespeare Company, is asking for ACTOR submissions for the play The Murder of Gonzago by Allen Irvine.
The Murder of Gonzago is two interlocking plays, one designed as a regular stage show, the other as street theater. Irvine borrows the title from the most famous play never written - the play that Hamlet asks the players to put on. It premiered at the 2015 Pittsburgh Fringe Festival and won the Spirit of the Fringe award.
Rehearses: March 18- May 25 (online via Zoom and in-person) select evenings/weekends.
Tech – Dress: May 30-June 1
Performances: June 2 and 3 at Chesapeake Shakespeare Company in Baltimore
Pay: Small stipend
Those who submit should have either a direct connection with the US military (veteran, active service, guard or reserve) or an indirect connection (spouse, caregiver, immediate family).

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich is seeking applicants to fill 10 vacancies on the Commission on Veterans Affairs. Two vacancies are for members representing the general public, and eight vacancies are for veterans who may be members of veterans groups such as the Vietnam Veterans of America, American Veterans (AMVETS), Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Women Veterans of America, American Legion, or Military Order of the Purple Heart. Writing ourselves Into Place - Creative Writing Workshop with Maya Marshall - March 16th at 7pm EST Virtual
Join poet, professor, and auther of All the Blood Involved in Love, Maya Marshall, on Thursday, March 16th at 7pm EST for a generative writing workshop in partnership with the Strathmore. In this workshop, participants will delve into the vivid, concrete, specific, sensory details with which they can craft a place. Writing about where they are, have been, and where they wish to be can help birth arresting worlds. Participants will read a poem closely, discuss its practical magic, and get started on writing their own poems in which they bring to life a world rife with character.
This workshop will be recorded and a link will be e-mailed to all ticket holders once the recording is available for viewing.
