During the Citizen and Service Awards, we were especially proud to recognize this year’s poster contest winners, nominees, and award recipients.
This year’s nominees included:

2026 Lifetime Service Award
Dr. Michael Fisher
Dr. Michael Fisher has spent a lifetime caring for others—first as a physician and now as a dedicated volunteer supporting healthcare, education, and community initiatives across Talbot County. As shared in his nomination, “His work has touched generations of residents with compassion and care.”

2026 Ripple Effect Award
Brett Whitehead
Brett Whitehead has played a key role in advancing public safety in Talbot County, leading the effort to create a state-of-the-art emergency services training campus. As one nominator shared, “His vision and leadership have strengthened how our community prepares and responds.”

Their contributions reflect the very best of Talbot County, and we are grateful for the impact they continue to make in our community.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to our guests, Jayla Elise for her beautiful musical performance, and Miss Maryland, Maria Derisavi for helping us celebrate this special occasion. Their participation made the day even more memorable.
Following the Citizen and Service Awards, everyone gathered on the courthouse lawn for ice cream, lawn games, art & crafts, touch-a-truck and more.

Thank you to our partners St. Michaels Art League, Working Artist Forum, Canvas on the Move, Janie Meneely and Rob van Sante, Scottish Highland Creamery, and our Talbot County Departments—Emergency Services, Parks and Recreation, Office of Community Partnerships, Planning and Zoning, Economic Development and Tourism, Roads, and Facilities Management. We also welcomed Talbot County Sheriff's Office with their K-9 unit "Kiwi", and Easton Volunteer Fire Department.
We also want to give a BIG shoutout to the Talbot County Free Library for their support in accommodating the ceremony indoors. It is partnerships like this that makes our community events a success!
