From the Editor
As we move into May, I’ve been thinking about how many stories of strength are woven into the fabric of Talbot County’s history. Some are well-known—bold moments of leadership, innovation, and civic action. Others are quieter: the teacher who inspired generations, the neighbor who always showed up, the family who kept their traditions alive across centuries.
Over the past few months, our Talbot250 Commission has been out in the community—attending events and sharing the meaning behind this special anniversary. We hope you’ll continue to follow along, get involved, and share your own Talbot story.
Warm regards,
Sarah Kilmon Communications Coordinator Talbot County Government

Through various events and initiatives, the Talbot250 Commission encourages local participation to ensure that everyone has a voice in commemorating this significant milestone.
Talbot250 isn’t just about commemorating the past—it’s about investing in our future. As we approach the 250th anniversary of our nation and the 365th anniversary of Talbot County, the Commission is exploring ways to leave a lasting impact that future generations can learn from, connect to, and build upon.
These legacy projects could take many forms:
- public art installations
- historical markers
- educational materials for schools
- digital archives
- oral history collections
- or even revitalized community spaces.
The goal is to create something meaningful and enduring—something that continues to tell Talbot’s story long after the celebration year has passed.
Have an idea for a legacy project? We’re listening. Whether you’re part of a local organization or simply a passionate resident, we welcome your vision!
