APRIL 2024

Roadway Projects in Carroll County

All scheduled work is weather/temperature dependent

MD 27 (Manchester Road) from west of MD 140 ramp to Hahn Road - 10% complete

  • This project will construct a shared-use path along MD 27 to connect to existing sidewalk along Hahn Road, install new crosswalks and pedestrian signals, and improve area drainage.
  • The schedule is Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The project will require shoulder and occasional single-lane closures.

MD 75 (Green Valley Road) between the Frederick/Carroll Co line, south of Church Street, and High Street - Highway maintenance

  • This project will repair cracks and depressions on the roadway and apply new striping. There will be single-lane closures with a flagging operation.
  • The schedule is Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Work started in March and is expected to be complete this month.

MD 91 (Emory Road) Bridges over the North Branch of the Patapsco River and Maryland Midland Railroad- 25% complete

  • The Maryland Midland Railroad recently granted a Right-of-Entry (ROE) to the contractor. The approval means the project can move forward with the bridge closure.
  • The MD 91 bridge will close starting Monday, April 15 at 6 a.m. Crews started installing signs to alert the public last week. The closure will be in effect for approximately nine months so crews can safely demolish the current structure and construct a new one.
  • The detour route directs motorists to MD 30 or MD 140 depending on travel direction. A map is available by clicking here

Springfield Ave (MD 851) between Main St and Warfield Ave - 25% complete

  • Crews are installing new curb and gutter along with drainage structures. There is a single-lane closure to safely facilitate the work. A flagging operation is maintaining travel in both directions.
  • This drainage improvement project is expected to be complete this summer.

Main Street (MD 851) between Wilson Avenue and West Friendship Road (Carroll/Howard Co line) - Drainage improvement project

  • Crews are removing an aging storm drain system and installing new structures. The work requires a single-lane closure with a flagging operation to maintain two-way travel. The schedule is Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • This project is expected to be complete by May. After completion, the State Highway Administration will install a new roadway surface on this section of MD 851.
