Uncover a collection of photographs from the prestigious Getty Images collection, delve into the public’s reaction to his assassination and teach your students about the laws Mr. King helped to create. Step back in history to learn about the laws that enabled black students to attend white schools. Discuss the topic of school integration in your classroom through a curated set of primary source photographs and a video interview from the Library of Congress. (Grades: Middle and high school)

Tis’ the season for rain, snow, ice and changing weather patterns. In MPT’s online learning module students gain practice analyzing scientific texts and citing evidence as they explore the topic of climate change and how it is impacting our oceans. (Grades 9-10)

Join MPT for a free screening of Backs Against the Wall: The Howard Thurman Story, followed by a discussion with the film's producer and director, Martin Doblmeier.

Born the grandson of slaves, Thurman became a “spiritual foundation” for the Civil Rights Movement, inspiring many of its leaders including Martin Luther King, Jr., Jesse Jackson and Congressman John Lewis.
