World History Inquiry Kits

World

Starter Kits for Research Projects

Bring world history to life in your middle and high school classrooms this fall with a brand new collection of 60 Teaching with Primary Sources Inquiry Kits from Maryland Public Television and Maryland Humanities.

Through the exploration of this primary-sourced based curriculum, your students will engage in inquiry and learn about significant people, places and events in world history. They will also practice critical document analysis skills as they examine themed primary source sets from the Library of Congress.

Conveniently organized by curriculum unit, the kits take students on an educational journey from the earliest human societies and ancient civilizations to the economic, political, and environmental impact of globalization.

For ease of use in the classroom, the kits are aligned to Maryland state standards and include helpful tips and recommendations for educators.

Learn the Reseach Process

To help students learn historical thinking and primary source analysis, MPT developed four new online learning modules to accompany the inquiry kits.

The self-paced student modules focus on the following topics:

- Digging for Historical Sources
- Evaluating Sources
- Using Primary Sources as Evidence
- How to Cite the Right Way

The complete collection includes eight modules and features videos and interactive activities to keep students actively engaged in the learning process.

U.S. History Inquiry Kits

UShistory

Last year, MPT launched the first collection of Teaching with Primary Sources Inquiry Kits designed around eleven engaging topics in U.S. history. Educators and students can use the kits to examine topics from life in the early American colonies and Westward Expansion, to the Fall of the Berlin Wall and modern immigration stories. In conjunction with the kits, MPT created four lesson modules to help students gain additional practice working with the research process.
