Maryland Teacher of the Year Gala

Tune into MPT to see some of Maryland’s finest teachers receive recognition for their hard work! The Maryland Teacher of the Year awards program honors exemplary elementary, middle, and high school teachers from across the state who demonstrate excellence and leadership in their schools and communities. The program is hosted by MPT’s Yolanda Vazquez and WJZ-TV’s Denise Koch.

This Day in History: November 6, 1860

Abraham Lincoln was elected the 16th U.S. President, and the first Republican to win the presidency. He received 180 of 303 possible electoral votes and 40 percent of the popular vote. Public Opinion: America and the War in Vietnam

Public opinion surrounding the war affected the government and individual soldiers. Increase student understanding about this period in history with MPT’s online inquiry kit. Learners will analyze primary source documents from the Library of Congress, including personal stories, photographs, and videos, to increase subject knowledge and deepen research skills.

The United States in a Time of Conflict

What was life like for Americans during the Great Depression and World War II? Use MPT’s online inquiry kits to teach students about this unit and significant time in history. Homeschool students in grades 4th - 8th are invited to attend a special STEM-focused station tour at MPT as part of the 2017 Maryland STEM Festival. STEM plays an enormous role in the day-to-day life of a television station. Come see first hand what MPT does!
