Sesame Street for Military Families: Transitions
Transitioning out of the military can be challenging on families and children. Our friends at Sesame Street launched a website to help families cope with transitioning into civilian life. Resources include an activity book, videos and an e-newsletter filled with fun activities and tips to help families navigate changes.

Get involved and give back! Activities include a colorful and fun way for kids to thank veterans and a place for visitors to craft messages to veterans or share their own stories.

Geography Awareness Week (November 13-19)

Theme: Explore the Power of Parks

Parks November

10 Parks That Changed America
Take a trek through 10 city parks that had an impact on the U.S. Stir your senses in places ranging from tiny public squares and cemeteries, to a freeway in Seattle. You will see some sensational parks built in unusual places that serve multiple purposes.

Yellowstone

This Is America
Explore historically-rich video stories of our national parks and get to know extraordinary people who devote their lives to preserve and protect these special places for everyone. Support materials include lesson plans, educator resources, day trip activities, and discussion guides.

Settlements and Civilizations

Colonial America

Succeeding in the New World: Colonial America
Challenge your classroom to build a successful colonial settlement that survives in the face of multiple challenges. Designed to boost core STEM knowledge, students use an interactive tool to create and test their colonial settlement and record information in an engineering portfolio as they complete tasks.

Civilizations

Ancient River Valley Civilizations
Get your students thinking like archaeologists as they uncover fascinating clues about the way past civilizations lived. In MPT’s literacy-building activity, students explore images of artifacts and analyze primary and secondary sources in order to write an informative article.
