POV: All the Difference  | 10:00 pm – 11:30 pm
Tune in to MPT as we kick off Spotlight Education Week with a compelling new film from best-selling author and Maryland local, Wes Moore. All the Difference takes a look into the lives and struggles of two at-risk teens from South Side Chicago in pursuit of a college degree. Statistics predict they will drop out, but they have other plans.

MPT’s annual one-hour special provides valuable tips, resources and suggestions for navigating the college financial aid process. The program focuses on finding money for college, completing the FAFSA, guidance from local financial experts, student success stories, and a live call-in hotline available throughout the program.

Meet artists committed to sharing their skills and passion for craft with students of all ages. Highlights include works from Navajo weavers, glass artists and ceramic artists.  


Saturday, September 17 

American Graduate Day

American Graduate Day 2016 | 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm
Join MPT for a live four-hour broadcast featuring individuals and organizations dedicated to helping youth stay on a positive path toward high school graduation. Meet extraordinary youth overcoming difficult obstacles to succeed in school and life, and hear from mentors working diligently to enhance educational outcomes and opportunities for students and youth.

Throughout the broadcast, MPT will air short segments featuring local youth, non-profit organizations, and American Graduate Champions making a difference in Maryland. 


Maryland Programs and Connections

Special guests including new Maryland State Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Karen B. Salmon, will appear on MPT's Public Affairs programs throughout Spotlight Education Week. Local education experts and leaders will discuss current topics in education with MPT program host, Jeff Salkin.
