NOVA and STEM

Space Day is May 6! Bring compelling STEM topics to your students with multimedia activities from NOVA. Explore everything from alien abductions and Pluto and dwarf planets, to solar space telescopes and a one-way trip to Mars. (Grades: Middle and High School)

Astronomers Discover New Galaxy

Thinkport’s science module Translating Qualitative & Quantitative Details - A New Galaxy helps students learn how to read for and differentiate between qualitative and quantitative information. Students read an article about astronomers that discover an active galaxy, then determine the main idea, and perform a close reading and analysis of the text. (Grades 9-10)

Cyberchase: Heroic Adventure

Buzz and Delete, two robots from the PBS KIDS series Cyberchase, must save their hometown from a series of catastrophes. Children join the zany robots on an interactive math adventure and use number sense, geometry, addition and pattern recognition skills to complete the heroic missions. (Ages 6-8)

    Be Kind to Animals Week

    Design a Dog House
    (May 1-7 is Be Kind to Animals Week)

    Set off on a multimedia math adventure! In this brain-boosting activity, children will learn about and explore measurement to successfully design a dog house for a “cutout” paper dog. (Ages 6-8)
