Hello Neighbors,
As we paused this Memorial Day to honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation, we also express our deepest gratitude to all members of our armed forces and the veteran community for their courage, commitment, and dedication. Their service reminds us of the importance of community, sacrifice, and collaboration in building a stronger future for all.
Thank you to everyone who joined us at our recent Spring Health Fair and to those who participated in the County budget hearings. Your engagement and advocacy continue to shape the future of District 8 and Prince George’s County. As the County Council prepares for the upcoming budget adoption, I remain committed to keeping District 8 families, seniors, youth, and small businesses at the center of our priorities.
I also encourage residents to learn more about the newly created Foster Care Task Force, an important initiative to strengthen support systems and improve outcomes for children and families throughout our community.
As we prepare to enter an exciting and active June, District 8 residents have so much to look forward to, including Early Voting, Election Day, Juneteenth celebrations, and Father’s Day festivities. Please remember to pace yourselves and stay engaged as we continue building community together. Also, be on the lookout in your District 8 mailbox for an invitation to our upcoming Fire Safety Event and Giveaway, designed to help families stay safe and prepared this summer.
Thank you again for your continued partnership, energy, and involvement. I look forward to seeing you throughout District 8 in the weeks ahead!
Sincerely,
Council Member Edward Burroughs III, District 8
