District 5, Winter Storm Fern has passed as of midnight last night. Councilwoman Shayla Adams-Stafford joined the County Executive and her council colleagues at the United Government Command Center and has been an active participant in strategizing the emergency response efforts!

County Executive Aisha Braveboy has introduced Operation Silver Shovel! This program will provide emergency snow removal support for seniors over the age of 70 or with a disability. Check the flyer below for more details and click here to submit your application.

How Snow Plowing Works (Set Expectations)
- Roads are plowed in this order:
- Primary roads (major arterials, emergency routes)
- Secondary roads
- Residential streets & cul-de-sacs
- Plowing is sequential, not simultaneous countywide
Snowplow Schedule
- No fixed neighborhood schedule (weather-dependent)
- Plows run 12-hour shifts (Yellow & Orange teams) until storm completion
- Larger trucks handle main roads first; smaller 4×4s finish tight residential streets
311 Snow Requests
- Dial 311 or visit https://www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/311
- Requests open 24 hours AFTER snow stops countywide. Calls related to Monday's fall can be placed starting tomorrow. In the meantime, our office stands ready to support. 301-952-3864. - Do NOT submit 311 snow complaints while it’s still snowing
WSSC Updates
- Reporting Water Main Breaks: Customers should call 301-206-4002 immediately to report water main breaks or leaks.
- Sign Up for Alerts: Customers can register for text/email alerts for up to 5 addresses to stay informed during emergencies at wsscwater.com/cns
Trash Collection
- Trash collection is cancelled for TODAY and TOMORROW.

What Residents Can Do to Help
- Stay off roads if possible
- Don’t shovel snow into the street
- Wait to shovel driveways until plows finish passes
- Check the snow map before calling
- Be patient heavy storms take days, not hours
