District 5, a winter weather storm is headed our way as early as late this evening! If you haven't already, NOW is the time to get prepared, don't delay.
Check out our District 5 Winter Weather Reminders and Emergency Winter weather kit graphics below.

Here are some additional resources and information for monitoring the storm.
Where to Get Real-Time Information: DPW&T's Snowplow Tracking (PGCTrackSnow)

How Snow Plowing Works (Set Expectations)
- Roads are plowed in this order:
- Primary roads (major arterials, emergency routes)
- Secondary roads
- Residential streets & cul-de-sacs
- Plowing is sequential, not simultaneous countywide
Snowplow Schedule
- No fixed neighborhood schedule (weather-dependent)
- Plows run 12-hour shifts (Yellow & Orange teams) until storm completion
- Larger trucks handle main roads first; smaller 4×4s finish tight residential streets
311 Snow Requests
- Dial 311 or visit https://www.princegeorgescountymd.gov/311
- Requests open 24 hours AFTER snow stops countywide - Do NOT submit 311 snow complaints while it’s still snowing
In conclusion
Plows prioritize emergency and main roads first so the county can function. Residential streets come after, and many require multiple passes. Parking and patience directly affect how fast streets are cleared.

What Residents Can Do to Help
- Stay off roads if possible
- Don’t shovel snow into the street
- Wait to shovel driveways until plows finish passes
- Check the snow map before calling
- Be patient heavy storms take days, not hours
