Message from Council Member Sydney Harrison...
As we welcome the month of October, we enter a season of change, reflection, and purpose. This time of year reminds us that growth often comes through transition — and that together, our community can continue to move forward with strength and gratitude.
October also carries great significance as we observe Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. These observances remind us of the importance of compassion, awareness, and action. Let us honor survivors, support those currently facing challenges, and work together to ensure every resident feels seen, valued, and protected.
As the colors of fall unfold, may we take time to reflect, uplift one another, and continue building a stronger, more connected Prince George’s County.
Warm regards, Council Member Sydney Harrison Prince George’s County – District 9

Residential Street Sweeping Program
The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation has announced that Residential Street Sweeping for Zones 11–15 will begin on June 23. This vital program helps maintain clean and healthy communities by removing debris and pollutants from our roads, which improves air quality and prevents pollution from entering local waterways. Residents are reminded to remove all vehicles and obstacles from the street on their scheduled sweeping day, as areas with blocked curbs cannot be serviced. If trash or recycling pickup falls on the same day, please place bins on the curb away from the street. Street sweeping will occur between 9 AM and 3 PM. For schedule details, visit mypgc.us/sweep, and direct any questions or concerns to streetsweeping@co.pg.md.us.
