Message from Council Member Sydney Harrison...
August marks a powerful time of transition. It’s the final stretch of summer; a moment to reflect on how far we’ve come this year and to prepare for the work still ahead. It’s a time to recharge, refocus, and recommit to the goals we set at the start of the year.
Nationally, August is recognized as Black Business Month, Back to School Month, and Wellness Month; a reminder to support local entrepreneurs, invest in our children’s future, and prioritize mental and physical well-being. It also includes Senior Citizens Day and Nonprofit Day, which call us to honor those who serve and those who’ve paved the way.
Council Member Sydney Harrison continues to lead with vision and dedication, ensuring that District 9 remains a place where families thrive, youth are empowered, businesses grow, and communities are heard. As we move through August, his commitment to progress, equity, and service remains unwavering.
Let’s use this month to uplift, connect, and move forward stronger, together.
Warm regards, Council Member Sydney Harrison Prince George’s County – District 9

Residential Street Sweeping Program
The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation has announced that Residential Street Sweeping for Zones 11–15 will begin on June 23. This vital program helps maintain clean and healthy communities by removing debris and pollutants from our roads, which improves air quality and prevents pollution from entering local waterways. Residents are reminded to remove all vehicles and obstacles from the street on their scheduled sweeping day, as areas with blocked curbs cannot be serviced. If trash or recycling pickup falls on the same day, please place bins on the curb away from the street. Street sweeping will occur between 9 AM and 3 PM. For schedule details, visit mypgc.us/sweep, and direct any questions or concerns to streetsweeping@co.pg.md.us.
