Groundbreaking of Two New Public Schools in Hyattsville and Brandywine
It was a privilege to give remarks and participate in the recent groundbreakings for the new Hyattsville Elementary School and Brandywine 3rd-8th Grade School, two of 8 schools being built through Phase II of our public-private-partnership (P3) program (aka Blueprint Schools Program), allowing the construction to be completed in just 3 years. It has been my privilege to support both phases of the P3 program, which will build out 14 new schools since 2021. Every child in our county deserves a world-class education.

COMMUNITY CUTS FOR KIDS RECAP - 8/17/2025
It was a great afternoon last weekend as we teamed up with WPGC 95.5 and Craig Blac, The Burton and Shields Foundation, and El Zol 107.9 to provide free haircuts, hair styles and nail services, bookbags, and school supplies to hundreds of youth in our community at Springhill Lake Recreation Center.

Prince George’s County has long sought to increase the opportunity for higher end retail and service options for our residents and, sometimes, you have to create those opportunities from within. That’s exactly what Nadine and Alex Vatel and the Vatel family have done in creating Sensory Sentiments Massage and Wellness Spa. I have had the privilege to tour this amazing Bowie-based establishment, which brings a true high-end experience for our community to enjoy. Studies show that dollars spent at locally owned and operated businesses -- businesses based here and owned by county residents -- can circulate 7 times within our county, creating jobs and economic growth, generational wealth, and revenue to support schools and other public services. I encourage my neighbors in our great county and beyond to support Sensory Sentiments and other locally owned and operated businesses. Prince George’s County should be the start-up business capital of the Greater Washington Region. Sensory Sentiments is located at 3821 Evergreen Parkway, Bowie, MD.
