As we enter the month of July, we look forward to a season filled with celebration, reflection, and continued service. July marks Independence Day, a time to honor the principles of freedom and unity that shape our nation. It’s also a time when families gather, communities connect, and we take pride in the progress we continue to make together in Prince George’s County.
This month, we are also focused on summer safety, supporting our youth programs, and continuing to host events that uplift and inform our residents. Whether it's through neighborhood outreach, public safety initiatives, or health and wellness efforts, our office remains committed to ensuring District 9 thrives during these warmer months.
We encourage you to stay cool, stay connected, and join us for upcoming events throughout the month. Let’s make July one of impact, gratitude, and growth.
Warm regards, Council Member Sydney Harrison Prince George’s County – District 9

Residential Street Sweeping Program
The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation has announced that Residential Street Sweeping for Zones 11–15 will begin on June 23. This vital program helps maintain clean and healthy communities by removing debris and pollutants from our roads, which improves air quality and prevents pollution from entering local waterways. Residents are reminded to remove all vehicles and obstacles from the street on their scheduled sweeping day, as areas with blocked curbs cannot be serviced. If trash or recycling pickup falls on the same day, please place bins on the curb away from the street. Street sweeping will occur between 9 AM and 3 PM. For schedule details, visit mypgc.us/sweep, and direct any questions or concerns to streetsweeping@co.pg.md.us.
