Ride & Community Day
Rev up your engines for a great cause! Join the Veterans' Motorcycle Charity Ride & Community Day on Saturday, June 14, 2025 (rain date: Sunday, June 15) at J Paul Duke Jr. Memorial VFW Post 9376 in Clinton, MD. This exciting event supports local veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. Riders can register from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., with the ride kicking off at 10 a.m. Community members can enjoy a cookout from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., featuring hot dogs and hamburgers for all. Celebrate agriculture in Prince George’s County during Prince George’s Agriculture Week, taking place from September 4–7, 2025! The week kicks off on Thursday, September 4th with the University of Maryland Extension Open House from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM at 6707 Groveton Drive, Clinton, MD, featuring community programs and youth county fair exhibit drop-offs. On Friday, September 5th, join the Ag Collective Social from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM for networking with local producers, gardeners, and urban farmers. Saturday, September 6th is all about discovery during Farmers Market & Farm Exploration Day; an opportunity to explore all that Prince George’s agriculture has to offer. M-NCPPC 10th Annual
Tots to Teens Expo
The District 9 team had a great time at the 10th Annual Tots to Teens Expo at the Sports & Learning Complex. It was a fun, high-energy event that brought families together for a day full of engaging activities. From robotics and flight simulators to cooking demos, fitness challenges, and storytelling, there was something for everyone to enjoy. Huge thanks to Taylor Thomas and The Better Family for putting together such an amazing experience. It was a great reminder of the power of community and connection.

FREE Food Pantry
Antioch Baptist Church of Clinton invites the community to their FREE Food Pantry, where all are welcome while supplies last—please note, one box per car. In collaboration with the Capital Area Food Bank, they are here to support the community with fresh and healthy food options. Looking ahead, the pantry will be open every second Friday and Saturday of the month. Mark your calendars for June 13th (2:00 PM – 5:00 PM) and June 14th (10:00 AM – 1:00 PM). No More Hurt: FWAC
5K Run & Walk
Join Council Member Sydney J. Harrison on Saturday, June 14, 2025, for the “No More Hurt” FWAC 5K Run & Walk, hosted by the Fort Washington Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. This impactful community event will take place at National Harbor, MD, near the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, and is free and open to the public. It's a chance for all of us to come together in support of survivors of domestic violence and human trafficking.
The morning starts with bag pick-up at 8:30 AM, followed by a stretch session at 8:45 AM. Opening remarks begin at 9:00 AM, with a guest presenter at 9:05 AM and a health presentation at 9:20 AM. The 5K kicks off at 9:30 AM. Residential Street Sweeping Program
The Residential Street Sweeping Program will return to Prince George's County in April 2025, with the countywide rollout of Phase II scheduled for Monday, April 14, 2025, in curbed neighborhoods. This program, which started with a pilot in Summer 2024, aims to keep streets cleaner and safer by removing debris and pollutants. Sweeping will help improve roadway safety, reduce pollution, and prevent toxins from entering storm drains and waterways, contributing to a healthier environment. It also enhances the aesthetic appeal of communities, increasing property values and supporting economic growth. This initiative reflects the county's commitment to sustainability and community well-being.

Private Sector Resumes Workshop
Federal employees and contractors considering a transition to the private sector can now take advantage of a specialized resume-writing workshop hosted by Career Transition Resources (CTR), Resume Place®, and Employ Prince George’s. Held on the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Mondays from April through July 2025, these comprehensive two-hour workshops are available in-person, virtually, and in hybrid formats. Led by resume expert Kathryn Troutman, author of Transitioning Your Federal Resume to Private Industry, participants will gain essential insights on resume formatting, tailoring achievements, and emphasizing key skills for private industry roles. Attendees will also receive a complimentary copy of the book. Registration is available online for the American Job Center in Largo, the National Harbor Hybrid Location, and virtual Zoom sessions.

ACAS Internship Program
Looking for an engaging summer opportunity in agriculture and STEM? The ACAS: Advancing Careers through Agriculture and STEM internship, hosted by Prince George’s and Calvert County 4-H, offers high school sophomores and up (ages 15+) a week of hands-on learning, professional development, and career exploration. Running from July 28th to August 1st, this immersive experience includes workshops, field trips, and real-world career settings.
Applications are due by June 30th, with an information session in early July and acceptance notifications by July 15th. Participants must commit to the full program and, if selected, become 4-H members ($10 per year). Need-based scholarships are available! Scholarship Opportunity
The Better Family Inc. is proud to present the Taylor Thomas Education Scholarship, a Maryland-based initiative dedicated to easing the financial burden of higher education. This scholarship provides $1,000 in financial assistance to five students pursuing higher education at a four-year accredited university or a trade school in the upcoming Spring or Fall. Eligible applicants must be U.S. citizens who are either graduating high school seniors or current college students.
