Hello Neighbors,
As we welcome the warmer weather and May flowers, I extend heartfelt wishes to all the mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and maternal figures in our community. Your love, strength, and guidance are the foundation of our families and neighborhoods. May this Mother's Day bring you joy, and the recognition you deserve. Please know my thoughts are with those who may be missing their mothers. May you find peace as you reflect on the special moments you shared, your memories, and her legacy.
This month is also Mental Health Awareness Month, a vital time to prioritize our physical, emotional, and mental well-being. I sincerely thank everyone who joined me at the recent Can We Talk? Symposium, hosted in partnership with Taraji P. Henson’s Boris L. Henson Foundation. Your participation reflects our commitment to ending stigma and creating a healing culture in Prince George’s County.
If you’re looking for ways to stay engaged in your mental wellness journey, consider the following:
- Embrace mindfulness, journaling, coloring, and other forms of art therapy.
- Stay connected with friends and loved ones; healthy relationships are vital.
- Don’t hesitate to reach out for professional support; there is strength in seeking help.
I invite you to Prince George's County Council Mental Health Town Hall on Monday, May 12, 2025, at the Wayne K. Curry Administration Building. This will be a space for open dialogue, resources, and community-driven solutions around mental wellness.
Finally, as prom season and graduation ceremonies fill our calendars, CONGRATULATIONS to all our high school and college graduates. Your achievements are a testament to your hard work and the support of families, educators, and mentors. We are proud of you and excited to see how you will shape the future of our County and beyond.
Sincerely,
Chair Edward Burroughs III, District 8
