DPW&T's Response to Winter
Storm Tuesday Afternoon
The Prince George’s County Department of Public Works and Transportation (DPW&T) is fully mobilizing in preparation for a winter storm expected to impact the region starting Tuesday, February 11, 2025. Forecasts predict 3-5 inches of snow, with up to 8 inches in northern areas and mixed precipitation into Wednesday morning. The heaviest snowfall—up to 1 inch per hour—is expected Tuesday night. DPW&T crews began brining operations on primary and secondary routes on February 9 and will continue pre-treating critical areas through February 10. Full Snow Operations will commence Tuesday morning, deploying plows, salt trucks, and heavy equipment to maintain safe, passable roadways, with a focus on cul-de-sacs and dead-end streets.
Residents are encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel during the storm, park off-street to assist snowplows, shovel sidewalks adjacent to their properties as required by County Code, and report hazardous conditions like downed trees or icy patches to PGC311. TheBus will operate on schedule, with route adjustments as needed, while Call-A-Bus will prioritize dialysis and medical trips only. Boil Water Advisory Issued for
Southern Prince George’s County
WSSC Water has issued a Boil Water Advisory (BWA) for all customers in southern Prince George’s County south of MD 4 (Pennsylvania Avenue) due to a major water main break. This affects several hundred thousand residents, and there is no estimated timeframe for repairs to be completed. If you have water, boil it for at least one minute before drinking, brushing teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, preparing baby food and formula, making ice, or giving it to pets. Do not use recently made ice, drinks, or stored water without boiling.
Water is safe for bathing as long as it’s not ingested. To assist affected residents, WSSC Water has set up two water distribution stations providing three gallons of bottled water per vehicle at 6336 Rosecroft Drive, Ft.
